Ontario Green Roof Expert to begin installation of green roof on Native Child Centre

Local Green Roof Company awarded green roof contract for the Native Child and Family Services Centre of Toronto on College Street

Beginning next week (November 2), the Native Child and Family Services Centre, located at 30 College Street, Toronto, will be the location of the newest green roof project utilizing EcoSystem, a green roof system manufactured and installed by the Burlington-based Bioroof Systems, Inc.

Landscape Architect Scott Torrance and Associates designed the green roof utilizing traditional native plantings and has incorporated a sweat lodge area, three sister's gardens, healing plant gardens, and a natural playground into the design concept.

"It was important to incorporate the overall goals of the Native Children and Family Centre in providing for a life of quality, well being, caring and healing for the children and families in the Toronto Native Community," commented Rick Buist, President of Bioroof Systems, Inc.  "As such, special features, including a water garden, fire pit, natural log benches and stump seating, are all part of the finished green roof."

Opportunities for media to observe the construction and installation of the green roof, and interview Rick Buist, will be made available on Wednesday, November 4 and Thursday, November 5.
